Enabling and Using Meal Break Remedies in Veras
Step 1: Enable Meal Break Remedies
Before you can use Meal Break Remedies, make sure the feature is turned on:
Go to Settings (bottom left corner).
Click on the Community tab and scroll down to Advanced Settings.
Under Meal Break Remedies, toggle the automation ON.
Step 2: How Meal Break Remedies Work
Once enabled:
Veras will automatically send missed meal break messages to staff members who missed their scheduled meal break.
These messages are typically sent one to two days after the shift, to allow time for any timesheet corrections.
A Missed Meals Report will appear in your Analytics and youβll also see a Missed Meals tab on your Dashboard.
Step 3: How to Use the Missed Meals Report
π In Analytics
Go to Analytics and select Missed Breaks Report.
Adjust the date range to view the timeframe you need.
The report will list staff members with missed breaks, along with the status for each one.
Status Definitions:
Needs Remediation β No message has been sent yet.
Pending β A message has been sent to the staff member for follow-up.
Responded β The staff member has replied with when they took their break or why they forgot to clock out.
Resolved β A scheduler, HR, or designated manager manually marks the status as resolved after updating the timesheet with the remedy information.
β οΈ Note: This update must be done manually in your time clock or timesheets β the system does not push these changes automatically.
Statuses must follow this order: Needs Remediation β Pending β Responded β Resolved.
Additional Tips:
To manually send a missed meal message: click on a Needs Remediation status, then select Message Staff.
Use the Status Filter at the top right of the report to quickly sort by status.
Step 4: Using the Dashboard
The Dashboard will display only meal remedies that have been responded to and are ready to be resolved.
It will not show items that still need to be sent, as those messages are handled automatically.
You can mark meal break remedies as Resolved directly from both the Dashboard and the Analytics report.
β Tip: Stay on top of your Missed Meals Report regularly to ensure compliance and to help maintain accurate timesheets and payroll records.
