Set staffing rules, like an RN on every shift

Tell Veras the minimum staffing you need each day so the schedule warns you when you're short.

Add a rule

  1. Click Settings in the left menu. Make sure the top says Facility Settings.

  2. Under Scheduling, click Rules.

  3. Click the department tab, like Nursing.

  4. Click + Rule, or Add suggested rules for my community.

  5. Pick the Positions the rule covers.

  6. Enter the Amount.

  7. Pick the Unit: Consecutive Hours or your PPD metric.

  8. Click Save.

See rule warnings

  1. On the schedule, a red icon shows at the top of any day that misses a rule.

  2. Hover the icon to see what's missing.

Good to know: Suggested rules add the federal nurse rules (an RN 8 hours a day, a licensed nurse 24 hours a day), plus your state's rules when we have them.

Common questions

Do rules stop me from posting?

No. They only warn you.

A staff member sees the wrong position's open shifts.
