Start a new message
Click Messages in the left menu.
Click the pencil icon at the top of the list.
Pick Start a channel, Send a direct message (1-10 people), or Send a bulk message.
What each one is for
Channel: a named group, like a department or position.
Direct message: a private chat with up to 9 other people.
Bulk message: the same private message sent to many people one by one.
Star, edit or delete
To star a conversation, click the star at the top right. It moves to Starred.
To edit or delete, hover over your message and click Edit message or Delete message.
In the phone app, tap and hold the message instead.
Good to know: Some communities also see Threads and Scheduled at the top of the list. These come with Messaging Pro.
Common questions
Why don't I see Start a channel?
You don't have permission to create channels. Ask an admin.
Where are my older direct messages?
The list shows your 15 most recent, plus unread ones. Search by name to find older ones.
Where can I learn more about channels?
