Requesting Time Off
You can request time off directly from the Veras mobile app. Once submitted, your manager is immediately notified and can approve or decline the request. You’ll be able to track the status in the app and receive notifications when a decision is made.
Before You Start
Before requesting time off, make sure:
You are enrolled in at least one time-off policy (PTO, Sick, Bereavement, etc.).
Your facility allows self-service time-off requests.
Your request meets any required notice or waiting periods defined by your facility’s policies.
If you do not see any time-off categories in the app, contact your manager or scheduler.
How to Request Time Off
Open the Veras mobile app and sign in.
Navigate to Time from the main menu or bottom navigation.
Open the Time Off tab.
Tap Request Time Off or the + button.
Complete the request form:
Type
Select the type of leave you are requesting (PTO, Sick, Bereavement, etc.). Only policies you are enrolled in will appear.Start Date
The first day of your requested time off.End Date
The last day of your requested time off. For a single-day request, use the same date for both fields.Hours
Enter the total number of hours requested. Full-day requests are typically your normal scheduled shift length multiplied by the number of days requested (for example: 3 days off × 12-hour shifts = 36 requested hours).Hours by Day (if available)
Used for partial-day requests or uneven hours across multiple days.Note (optional)
Add any additional context your manager should know, such as appointment details or scheduling flexibility.Unpaid (if available)
Enable this option if you are requesting unpaid time off instead of using accrued balances.
6. Tap Submit.
After submitting, your request will appear with a Requested status.
What Happens After You Submit
Once submitted:
Your manager is notified by email, text message, and push notification.
The request appears in the Scheduling Dashboard for review.
If you already have scheduled shifts during the requested dates, your manager will see those conflicts before approving.
If approved, any conflicting shifts may automatically move to Open Shifts so coverage can be found.
Canceling a Request
If you no longer need the requested time off:
Open the request from the Time Off screen.
Select the Cancel option.
If the request was already approved and your shifts were moved to Open Shifts, those shifts will remain open. Contact your manager if you would like to reclaim them.
Tips
Submit requests early whenever possible to improve approval and scheduling flexibility.
Review your available balances first to avoid insufficient balance issues.
Use the note field when additional context may help your manager review the request.
Submit separate requests for separate date ranges rather than combining unrelated days into one request.
