How to Print the Assignment Sheet

Most communities still hand out the day's tasks on paper. The Print assignment sheet page turns the day's Assignments board into a Daily Assignment Sheet, and lets you set the day, columns, spacing, and grouping before it goes to the printer.

Before you start

  • Build and staff the day first. The sheet prints what is on the Assignments board, so anyone you haven't filled in prints as a blank row — see How to Use Assignments.

  • The print options open with whatever day, department, and Group by you had on the Assignments page. You can change any of them here without going back.

  • One sheet covers one department. To hand out Nursing and Dietary sheets, print them one at a time.

  • Note: Nothing you change on the print options page affects the Assignments board. These settings only shape the printout.

Print the assignment sheet

The printed sheet is called the Daily Assignment Sheet. It opens with whatever department, group-by, and day you had on the Assignments page, and you can change any of that before you print. A live preview sits on the left and updates as you change each option.

  1. On the Assignments page, open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and click Print.

  2. Check the date at the top of the options panel and change it if you need a different day.

  3. Pick the Department you want on the sheet.

  4. Under Spacing, click Comfy, Default, or Compact to control how much room each row takes.

  5. Under Group by, pick how the rows are stacked on the sheet (e.g., Time of day).

  6. Under Column order, drag the handles to reorder columns, click the trash icon to drop a column, or click + Column to add one back.

  7. Under Shift, pick one shift to filter to, or leave it on All shifts.

  8. Click Print.

The sheet is headed Daily Assignment Sheet and lists the facility, date, department, and shift, then a row per staff member under each group heading. Out of the box the columns are Staff, Shift time, Area, Assignment, Break, and Notes. Clicking Print hands off to your device's normal print window, where you can send the sheet to a printer or save it as a PDF. To put your options back the way Veras ships them, click Reset print options.

Common questions

Q: Can I print a day other than the one I was looking at?
A: Yes. Change the Date at the top of the print options and the preview rebuilds for that day. You don't have to go back to the Assignments board first.

Q: How do I get rid of a column I don't need?
A: Click the trash icon next to that column in the Column order list. To put it back, click + Column. To change the order, drag a column by the handle on its left.

Q: I changed too many options. How do I start over?
A: Click Reset print options at the bottom of the options panel. That returns the date, department, spacing, grouping, columns, and shift filter to their defaults.

Q: Can I save the sheet as a file instead of printing it?
A: Yes. Click Print, then choose the save-as-PDF option in your device's print window — most browsers offer one. For a spreadsheet instead, use Download in the Assignments page three-dot menu, which gives you a CSV file.

Q: Why is a row on the sheet blank in the Staff column?
A: That assignment has nobody on it. The sheet prints the board as it stands, so fill in the open assignments before you print — see How to Use Assignments.

Q: Does changing the print options change my Assignments board?
A: No. The print options only shape the printout. Your board, your staffing, and your templates are untouched.
